Bandra Jewish Cemetery
Honouring Jewish Tradition in Mumbai
The Bandra Jewish Cemetery was built in 1957 to cater to the needs of the then significant population of the Jews living in the Bandra region and surrounding areas.
This Cemetery was built in addition to the existing Jewish Cemetery along Dr. E. Moses Road in Worli, which occupied much larger space.
The Bandra Cemetery lay in a state of disrepair and decay until the present Caretaker Committee took over in November 2022.
Efforts are also being made to prop up security in and around the Cemetery – a CCTV camera system, structural improvements on the outer walls, clearing of the garbage being thrown along the outer wall, pest control, landscaping and gardening and related civil works – all this in cooperation with the BMC. All graves have been properly cleaned up and space around each one has been cleared.
